Tip Tuesday: Dining Out is a Disaster!! (Part 4/5)

Posted on September 21st, 2015

Here's another great tip that can help dining out run a little smoother:

Be understanding and know your child’s limitations:

You may see some challenging behaviors because your child does not have the communication or listening skills to eat in a restaurant without having any difficulties.  Meaning, if your child has trouble sitting down and eating at the table in your own home, expecting them to sit at a restaurant where there is a ton more distractions is just not realistic. Think about the following factors:

  • Child’s age
  • Sibling interactions
  • The noise level
  • Lighting
  • Temperature
  • Proximity of other people
  • Physically using utensils
