Tip Tuesday! Our mornings are a MESS! (post 4/4)

It's time for our final tip for: Our Mornings are a MESS!

Tips for Smooth Morning Routines (Part 4/4)

Kids won’t do the routine on their own: If your kids get distracted in the morning and you find them in front of the TV instead of getting dressed, there are a couple things you can do. First, this is a great time to provide a checklist (written if your child can read, pictures if reading is a challenge). This is one way to keep them on track. Second, find ways to control the things that distract them. For example, if screens are distracting your kids, make a rule that there are no screens allowed until certain activities are done, and then control the screens. Take iPods, phones, and remote controls, and only return them when the tasks are completed.

Make sure to reward your child for their hard work! You could set aside 5 or 10 minutes of screen time before leaving for school, in the car, or immediately after school to let them know that they did a great job getting ready!
