Establish A Peaceful Bedtime Routine
Try to keep the bedtime routine happy and light. Have a scheduled routine and don't expose your child to scary or violent tv, music, books, or stories. (Please see the bedtime routine blog for more information)
Allow Security Objects
By allowing security objects it provides your child with extra comfort throughout the night. It's a good idea to test out and practice with your child which security item feels most safe to have at night. Some items to try:
– Flashlight
– Bedtime pass-(please see article from NPR- http://www.npr.org/sections/health-shots/2015/09/18/441492810/the-bedtime-pass-helps-parents-and-kids-skip-the-sleep-struggles the bedtime pass help parents and kids skip the sleep struggles)
– Nightlight
– Stuffed animal
– Blanket
